Ocean Thermal Energy Conversion (OTEC) uses the temperature difference between warm surface water and cold deep water to run a heat engine like the Rankine cycle to produce carbon-free, 100% renewable, baseload electricity. Deep Source Cooling uses just the cold water from deep lake or ocean sources to provide a heat sink for district cooling systems, air conditioning, and other cooling needs.
METS personnel have completed designs for all types of OTEC systems including Open Cycle, Closed Cycle, and Hybrid Cycle plants for floating, land-based, and near-shore installations. We have extensive experience in OTEC and Deep Source Cooling project development throughout the Caribbean, Hawaii, South Pacific, Asia, and Indian Ocean.
